Florida deputy demoted for mishandling evidence, cases could be in jeopardy

A 16-year veteran of the Lee County (Florida) Sheriff's Office was demoted from lieutenant to deputy and is under investigation. An Internal Affairs report reveals Jeff Brown made critical mistakes while processing evidence from at least two crime scenes. The mistakes could put those cases in jeopardy.

The two separate internal investigations accuse Brown of improper conduct when processing property and evidence.
