Supervisors in Pennsylvania town take charge, spark fears

For the first time in recent memory, Moon's (Pennsylvania) board of supervisors is exercising hiring and firing power over people working for the township. And with seven top managers having given notice, supervisors' newly claimed authority could profoundly influence the quality of the staff hired to restock township offices.

The board's decision to exercise veto power over hiring -- once claimed solely by the township manager -- has many current staff members worried, according to outgoing assistant township Manager Jodi Noble.
